Installation Guide

STEP 8: Cut hole in roof along outside marked circle.

WARNING: Do not cut through rafter. The shingles that could not be cut because of the rafter must be cut with a knife. (Fig. 3)

STEP 9: The standard flashing (H) may require trimming at the top edge of the flashing when the roof slope is greater or less the slope of the flashing. If this is the case, trim either the top or the bottom edge of flashing (H) as little as possible, so that the pipe (I) will fit through vertically with ease.

STEP 10: In order to slip the flashing (H) under the shingles, the shingles must be loosened a little and the nails removed or cut with a reciprocal saw by sliding the blade under the shingles. Use the perimeter chalked area as a guide as to how far to loosen and cut. (Fig. 3)

STEP 11: Now slip the flashing (H) under the shingles starting at about the bottom edge of the hole in the roof. Outside edge of flashing should line up with chalk or crayon mark on roof. Do not secure flashing at this time. (Fig. 4)

STEP 12: Locate the thin nail on the ceiling below (Fig. 1) and place the 13" circular template (R) over this nail and mark the outside edge of the 13" template (R). Cut hole in ceiling along this line at a slight angle so that the top of the hole is a little larger. Be sure to dust and clean top edge of hole in attic.
NOTE: Be sure hole is not larger than 13" unless you are cutting an oval hole in a vaulted ceiling.

Take ceiling diffuser (K) and center over the hole.
Mark 4 screw holes on ceiling. Place 4 blocks of wood atop the drywall inside the attic. Drill holes and insert drywall anchors (O) through the drywall into the wood blocks.
NOTE: If ceiling has a rough texture, mark outside
the ceiling diffuser (K) and scrape ceiling smooth.
